In motion

My phone lit up with a new message: “Can we throw a surprise birthday party for your roommate, Léonie, at your apartment?” I texted back a response, “Sure, that would be fun!” It was difficult keeping the secret from Léonie, but we were successful. She was surprised! It was a fun evening. We laughed, ate, and celebrated. I even taught and led a group game in French!

The apartment on campus and having a native French speaker as a roommate have been great blessings. Léonie has been a huge help with my French and an encouragement to my life. We often have biblical conversations in French and host game nights or meals at our apartment with the Bible school students.

French classes are going well. I feel progress being made in the language. Recently, the language school went on a field trip to a local museum and a restaurant. I went to the same museum last year and didn’t understand much of the French then. I had only been learning French for a few weeks at that time. It was new to me. This year was different with having studied language for over a year. It was encouraging to return and understand a lot more of the presentation in French!

I am thankful for my time at Parole de Vie and the friendships being made. Learning a new language as an adult is not easy. I am grateful to be able to do so in a Christian community. After much pray and seeking guidance, I have decided to extend my time in language school by one semester. This way I can complete the advanced level of French. Although I desire to get back to Togo as soon as possible, I know my French will be stronger by completing a higher level. During the summer, when class is not in session, I will be serving at the summer camp on campus! I am looking forward to this ministry opportunity and continuing to serve in Québec!

Thank you for coming alongside me on this journey. Your prayers, encouragement and support mean so much to me. I’m excited for God’s leading in my life and what He has in store.

God bless,

Liz
